Original production Drotthningholms Slottsteater - coproduction Château de Versailles Spectacles Co-production of the Da Ponte trilogy: Opéra National de Bordeaux, Fundación del Gran Teatre del Liceu, Les Musiciens du Louvre Opéra bouffe in 2 acts premiered in Vienna on January 26, 1790 at the Burgtheater Libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The years go by. Emperor Joseph II at war with the Turks turns away from opera. And Mozart, without a plan, pawns impatiently. When suddenly his rival Salieri abandons a School of Lovers which he seizes and renames Così fan tutte (Thus they all do), quote from his own Figaro. In the trilogy conceived by Ivan Alexandre, the libertine turned “old philosopher” incites two young couples to debauchery. And succeeds. Earthy and cruel fable that the most subtle music in the world turns into a study of love play in all its forms. An ideal sextet of song and theater surrenders to the last opera buffa of a master who will soon leave earth to join the immortals. ABOUT THE MOZART / DA PONTE TRILOGY From 1786 to 1790, Mozart and the young poet adventurer Lorenzo Da Ponte together wrote three masterpieces without a model. Three ? Or rather one! An intimate epic in three episodes told for the first time in Bordeaux as its authors experienced it.
